Fraud Alert: Phishing e-mails to clients claiming to be from Santam

Santam recently informed De Wet De Villiers Brokers that they have been made aware of fraudulent e-mails being sent randomly to some of our clients that purport to be from Santam, claiming that recipients are due discounts on premiums.
Santam adheres strictly to the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act) in safeguarding our clients, as well as their information, and these are clearly phishing emails linked to an online scam.
In the event you receive one of these e-mails or an SMS, please DO NOT respond and rather contact us if you require information about any of Santam’s offering/s.
You can also report incidents of criminal activity linked to phishing with the South African Police Services.

These communications may contain some (or all) of the following elements:

  • The Santam logo.
  • An external link that will take the recipient to an external website. Recipients of such e-mail must please NOT click on any link in an e-mail like this. Santam will never send you an e-mail asking you to click on a link and enter personal information.
  • If it is an e-mail, it may contain a strange “from” email address (i.e not an official Santam client service e-mail address).

Below is an example of what these e-mails may look like:
